Fines and Billing

Overdue books accrue a late fee of ten cents ($0.10) per book each day. The maximum bill a student can accrue for overdue books is ten dollars ($10.00) per book.

Overdue Reserve books accrue a fee of fifteen cents ($0.15) per book each hour after 8am that the book has not been returned, with a maximum fine of ten dollars ($10.00) per book.

Students must pay late fees and fines before they will be able to check out any new materials.

  1. Visit the University Library or Learning Resource Center to receive bill.
  2. Pay bill at Cashier's window in the Administration Building (building A) on the Martin Luther King, Jr. campus.
  3. Return to library with copy of receipt to have fines removed.

Books that are 120 days overdue are Assumed Lost. Once a book reaches this status, the student's Banner account will be automatically charged for the price of the book on file. Library employees will not be able to remove the fine or resolve the block to a student's account at this point until the student submits payment through Banner or at the Cashier's office.

A student's Banner account will be charged for the price of a lost item 120 days after the item became overdue. Once an item reaches this status, the student's account with the Library is cleared. The amount they are charged is based on the price the Library paid for the item so that it can be repurchased.

1. Log in to Banner Web Services.

2. Navigate to Tuition & Fees.

3. Make payment online or at Cashier's window.

There is no need to return a receipt to the Library for lost item payment.
