Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education

The Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) adopted the information literacy framework in 2016. It consists of six frames representing core concepts of information literacy. Each frame includes the concept, a set of knowledge practices (methods of increasing understanding), and a set of dispositions (methods of addressing affective states, attitudes, and valuing). The framework has a flexible structure, so instructors should feel free to pick and choose frames as needed and to present them in any sequence. Click on one of the frames below to learn more.
